From December 14 to 18, a delegation led by Lei Haichao, Director of China's National Health Commission, visited Japan to attend the 17th Tripartite Health Ministers¡¯ Meeting and engage in a series of official activities.
At the meeting, Lei shared China¡¯s approaches to pandemic prevention, healthy aging, and universal health coverage, as well as the ongoing healthcare infrastructure initiatives. Lei emphasized China¡¯s commitment to collaborating with Japan and South Korea to elevate trilateral health cooperation, bringing tangible benefits to their citizens and contributing to regional stability and the global vision of a shared community for health.
Lei Haichao also held bilateral discussions with Minister Fukuoka Takamaro of Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare of Japan, Vice Minister Park Minsoo of Ministry of Health and Welfare of the ROK, and WHO Regional Director for the Western Pacific Saia Ma¡¯u Piukala. These discussions yielded broad consensus on various health-related topics. The event was attended by over 50 representatives from the health departments of China, Japan, and South Korea, as well as the WHO Western Pacific Region and the China-Japan-Korea Secretariat.
During the visit to Japan, the Chinese delegation toured medical institutions, universities, and healthcare enterprises. They engaged in dialogue on medical talent development, healthcare integration, and innovations in medical science and technology.
