QuidelOrtho announced today that it terminated President and CEO Douglas Bryant, effective immediately.
The San Diego¨Cbased diagnostic tech company said the decision came after a ¡°comprehensive evaluation.¡± Bryant also resigned from the board of directors, effective today.
QuidelOrtho¡¯s board formed the Office of the Chief Executive Officer on February 17 to ensure business continuity and effective leadership. The Office of the CEO is led by EVP and Chief Commercial Officer Michael Iskra, EVP and Chief Operating Officer Robert Bujarski and CFO Joseph Busky.
Iskra was appointed interim CEO and Bujarski interim president, both effective today. The pair will continue to fulfill their current responsibilities while assuming additional duties in their interim roles.
¡°Now is the time for a change in leadership that can accelerate our initiatives to improve efficiencies, drive growth and increase shareholder value,¡± Chair Kenneth Buechler said in a news release. ¡°All of us would like to thank Doug for his years of dedication and wish him well in his future endeavors.¡±
QuidelOrtho¡¯s board has also started a comprehensive search for a new CEO and is considering internal and external candidates. There is no change to the company¡¯s financial guidance provided on February 16.
About the interim CEO and president
Iskra has over a decade of global executive leadership experience and more than 30 years of experience in diagnostics and healthcare products. He has significant knowledge and expertise across strategy, sales, marketing, operations and general management. Prior to his current chief commercial officer role, he was EVP of commercial excellence and strategy at Ortho Clinical Diagnostics Holdings from 2020 to 2022.
Bujarski has two decause of enterprise experience at the company spanning operational, commercial and legal functions within the diagnostics sector. He has significant knowledge and expertise across strategy, business development and R&D. Prior to becoming COO, Bujarski was COO of Quidel from September 2022 to May 2022.
