Euroimmun, a Revvity company, and Xpedite Diagnostics have partnered to offer DNA extraction protocols for point-of-care diagnostics.
Under the agreement, users of Euroimmun's EuroArray diagnostics platform will be offered the EuroArray SwiftX-traction Kit for rapid manual DNA extraction. This kit reduces both the complexity and processing time of DNA extraction and can yield DNA for testing in less than 30 minutes from various challenging sample types, Euroimmun said.
The new extraction method is currently being validated in combination with several CE-marked EuroArray products, and Xpedite intends to register the extraction kit itself as a CE-IVD device under the European IVD Regulation 2017/746.
EuroArray SwiftX-traction was tailored specifically for the EuroArray diagnostic platform and is based on Xpedite's SwiftX Toolbox, the partners said. The new kit is expected to "enhance customer satisfaction and acceptance, ultimately leading to a better sales position of the EuroArray diagnostic platform in the segments [of] dermatomycosis, sexually transmitted infection testing, and HPV typing," Andy Wende, Xpedite CEO and head of R&D, said in a statement.
The EuroArray system combines the advantages of PCR and microarray technologies to detect genetic markers and pathogens. EuroArrays are based on the company's biochips, each consisting of 72 DNA spots to enable duplicate determination of up to 36 different DNA sequences, according to Euroimmun's website.
