It is stated that from 30 August 2023, all travelers entering China will no longer need to undergo any COVID-19 testing. Relevant information will no longer need to be provided when filling the Health Declaration Form. It means the entry process goes back the same as before the pandemic.
What documents needed to travel to China?
➤ A valid visa
Obtain a visa prior to arrival in the People's Republic of China and have a passport with at least six months' validity remaining.
China has resumed issuing all types of visas from 15 March 2023. All multiple entry visas that were issued before March 28, 2020, that are still within the validity date can now be used to travel to China again.
Is Health Declaration Form still mandatory for entering China?
➤ YES
According to the latest information, individuals traveling to China will no longer be required to undergo pre-entry COVID-19 testing. Airlines are no longer required to check the COVID-19 tests before boarding, and there are no testing requirements upon arrival in China.
However, travelers are still obligated to fill out the Health Declaration Form. This form does not require information related to COVID-19. It is essential to complete this form and present the health declaration code during your entry, as border authorities may conduct spot checks. The Form is accessible via the QR code below
Any restrictions on traveling within China?
➤ No restrictions for domestic travel in China
China has removed all domestic travel restrictions, including the need for COVID-19 testing, quarantine and mask-wearing. Travelers now are free to cross provincial and regional borders without having to show negative COVID-19 tests or health codes.
Is air travel to China recovering?
➤ The number of international flights is gradually increasing
Since 8 January 2023, China has opened its borders on a large scale, and has also lifted restrictions on the number of international passenger flights.
According to data released by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), Chinese airlines carried around 130 million domestic passengers during the July-August period, a 7.4% increase compared to the same period in 2019.
Compared with domestic tourism revival, CAAC data shows that the number of international flights remains well below pre-Covid-19 levels. During the July-August period, there were an average of around 1,100 international flights, which is only 44% of 2019 levels.
