Luminex announced today that it has received CE-IVD marking for its NxTAG Respiratory Pathogen panel.

The panel is designed to simultaneously detect 21 respiratory pathogens, including the atypical bacteria Chlamydophila pneumoniae, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, andLegionella pneumophila, in a single closed-tube system in a format that scales to changes in throughput requirements, according to the company. Extracted samples are added directly to pre-plated lyophilized reagents, and the tubes are then sealed and ready to be used for closed-tube amplification and detection using the Luminex Magpix platform.

With the panel labs can process a single sample or up to 96 samples per run without wasting consumables or reagents, Luminex said. Total turnaround time, not including extraction, is just over three hours. The company submitted the respiratory panel to US regulators for approval this past summer.
