Zymo Research announced on Thursday that its EZ DNA Methylation-Lightning Kit has received CE marking.
The kit's cytosine-to-uracil conversion chemistry treats DNA with bisulfite, a prerequisite for many methylation-based diagnostic tests, the company said in a statement. The chemistry also minimizes DNA fragmentation and degradation during the conversion process.
Using a spin technology, converted DNA are desulphonated and cleaned up, allowing for "ultra-low" elution volumes, Zymo said. The kit includes a ready-to-use conversion reagent and is available in spin-column and high-throughput 96-well formats.
It can complete bisulfite conversion in a little over an hour, the firm said.
"The kit consolidates many of the labor-intensive steps required for precise, complete bisulfite conversion of DNA, making an otherwise cumbersome workflow user-friendly and consistent time after time," Marc Van Eden, Zymo's VP of business development, said in a statement. "This is particularly critical for assay reproducibility in sensitive analytical processes such as [next-generation] sequencing."
Earlier this month, Zymo Research received CE marking for its SafeCollect sample collection kits, which include collection tubes with Zymo's DNA/RNA Shield stabilization solution for nucleic acid preservation at ambient temperatures for at least one month.
